The Journey not Holidays

“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load.” Galatians‬ ‭6:4-5‬ ‭

“Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.” Galatians‬ ‭6:15‬

I know am guilty on this day of pointing out the CEO (Christmas and Easter Only) church comers because Jesus was either born or risen. I would also hear comments from others that these families are only here because it’s a family tradition for the Christmas Eve Candle Light Service or they are here to take pictures in front of the decorated cross.

Are you thinking that today when you see people that you haven’t seen in a while? If your looking around for people you haven’t been at church in a while are you at least taking time to find out why?

You see every year we celebrate the birth and resurrection of Jesus but have we turned these into our own celebrations or are we truly understanding that these were the two most important days in history for us as believers. Have gifts, Easter baskets, and family portraits taken over with a nice family lunch afterwards?

Well that was harsh.. Isn’t that what we basically do on a daily basis to others so why make an exception for today. We are all so quick judge others that we know or don’t know. Do we know their full story or have we only heard from others pieces of their story that make us think a certain way. Jesus had a beginning of life, a life of serving, and an end of life. But I would say we mainly focus on the beginning and the end. What if focused on His life of serving just as much?

We need to focus more on ourselves on daily basis than others because we all have our own loads we are carrying. While we carry our load we have two choices. We can share our load with others so they can walk with us or we can carry it alone, suffer, and make the ones we love the most suffer as well.

Every person that is around you every day is dealing with something. The question is will this year be different celebrating the Risen Savior. Are you going to truly try and act more like Him tomorrow by serving others and going out of your way to talk with someone struggling or is today still a family get to together with pictures and festivities.

I encourage you today to learn more about Jesus’ life of serving so you can truly become more like Him!
